Dear 8th Grade Students and Parents,

I am very happy to be teaching 8th Grade Religion for the 2011-2012 school year at Kearns-Saint Ann School!  I will share this responsibility with Mrs. Hendrickson.  I will have 3 Religion classes with you a week, and Mrs. Hendrickson will have 1 Religion class a week.  I will cover the Religion text book, Bible study and Confirmation preparation.  Mrs. Hendrickson will cover Mass preparation, Safe Environment, Name-the-Saints, and Family Life.  This is a very important year to all of you in your faith development.  Whether you continue your education in a public high school or a Catholic high school, our job is to prepare you for your future, particularly in your faith development.

Each student will keep a Religion journal in a spiral notebook that was part of your school supply list.  Our textbook series, Christ Our Life,” covers:

  • The Mystery of the Church
  • The Marks of the Church
  • The History of the Church (parts 1 and 2)
  • The Witness of the Church

In addition to our textbooks, we will use our Bibles for class work and in Confirmation preparation.  Two or three months of the school year will be used for Confirmation preparation.  Even if your child in not being confirmed, they will study and complete all the materials.  You can expect homework, quizzes, tests and special projects in Religion class.

This begins my 5th year of teaching Religion at Kearns-St. Ann School.  I am very passionate about Religion, just like I am about Music.  I look forward to having you in my Religion class!  I hope that you will gain a great amount of knowledge and love of your faith during this year.  Welcome back to school.
